Blichmann Hop Blocker
If you prefer a hoppy beer, you’re likely concerned with keeping the hops in your boil kettle and out of your fermenter during your home brewing.
The Blichmann Hop Blocker is a handy brewing accessory that promises to keep those hops out of the fermenter and securely in the boil kettle, all without disrupting the rest of the brewing process.
Through rigorous and repetitive testing, Blichmann Engineering has determined that the 90 percent to 95 percent of the hop material is left behind when using the Blichmann Hop Blocker to transfer your brew to the fermenter.
While many traditional screen filters draw from the bottom of the kettle and often plug the screen, the Hop Blocker drains the majority of the wort from the top down, enabling the hops and trub to settle undisturbed at the bottom of the kettle.
The filter works on just a small portion of the wort instead of the entire thing, making it much less disruptive.
The HopBlocker offers a 95% efficiency on pellet hops and is virtually impervious to plugging!
PLEASE NOTE: The HopBlocker is designed for use with pellet hops only.
Whole/loose hops will plug the unit.
While using whole hops, or a mix of whole and pellet hops, you must bag your whole hops in a large muslin grain bag.
This will not affect the utilization rate and will result in significantly less wort loss.
This device is virtually plug-free and captures up to 95% of the brew kettle particulates.
It capitalizes on preferential flow to direct the clear wort to the kettle drain and keep the particulates at the bottom where they belong.
Works best in BoilerMaker pots, but can be adapted for use in other manufacturers pots.
